Scandinavian building culture focuses on beautiful and pure natural building materials. Wood is often the material of choice. Wood is one of the oldest and most trusted garden materials in existence, and when it is properly cared-for, it can last for a very long time. Unfortunately, wood that is exposed to moisture can stain, degrade and even lose its structural integrity. And, especially on wooden decks, algal growth creates a dangerous slippery surface.
The Horsemencare wood range is specifically designed to help outdoor wood survive in even extremely moist environments and prevent the adhesion of algae.
One of the best ways to prevent water damage to outdoor wood is to use a high-quality wood during construction. Cedar has long been a championed wood in outdoor additions because natural resins within the Cedar make it resistant to moisture. For a low-maintenance, long-lasting installation, tropical hardwoods are often used to build a deck. Their density makes them resistant to many of the perils that ruin other woods before their time. But even these objects will almost always be covered by some sort of protective layer… Oil-based or water-based polyurethane seals do not prevent the adhesion of algae. Often, it is a matter of months that the deck is slippery green. Also, they soon lose their luster. For example with red Cedar: this type of wood contains tannin acid. In reaction with rain, air and dirt the wood will be tarnished by black and grey spots.
Within the Horsemencare range there are several products; but our agents in Ireland and the United Kingdom have decidedly given us the advice to focus on DECKCARE. Suitable for garden wood - ranging from decks to furniture.
